From the back cover: We met in Orlando, Florida in September of 1973. We lived on a small farm on the outskirts of town. Most of our time was spent in the "music room" with friends. Those were good time. Since then, we have travelled hundreds of thousands of miles writing songs and sharing them with you.

This is our first album. We hope to record many more in the future. Thanks for supporting us. We love you.

Johnny Pickard - Playing & Singing It
Susannah Recordings
Dee-Dee Recording Service - Windsor, Pennsylvania

From the back cover: After leaving Duke (University) he (Pickard) was employed by a large cotton manufacturing from, saved up enough to purchase his first full-size accordion and started to put his knowledge of theory to use and practice. In a few months several "gigs" with a band under the baton of Jimmy Talbert convinced Johnny that this was his kind of work. He later joined the Ceil Ellington band of Richmond, Virginia as vocalist and also started working on his talent as a single entertainer, eventually ending up in spots like Leon & Eddies in New York, The Club Charles in Baltimore and many others.

The Judy Lynn Show

The Judy Lynn Show
The Super Seven
Sunset Records
Recorded and Manufactured at Artist's Recording Co. - Cincinnati, Ohio
770311

From Lynn's wiki page: Judy Lynn Kelly (April 16, 1936 – May 26, 2010), who performed as Judy Lynn and was born Judy Lynn Voiten, was an American country music singer and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Idaho in 1955.

Lynn was born in Boise, Idaho. As a teenager she joined a nationwide tour of Grand Ole Opry performers. She was hired to fill in for Jean Shepard, who had become ill during the tour. She soon married her manager and for over 20 years her show was a staple piece of the Las Vegas strip, featuring her brand of Country Music in dazzling Nudie costumes. Lynn retired from the music business in 1980 to become a Christian minister. She died on May 26, 2010 after suffering congestive heart failure at her home in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Back Home - Red Creech

Burning Bridges
Back Home
Red Creech
Clark County Records
Central Recording Studio - Middletown, Ohio

Steel Guitar: Chubby Howard
Fiddle: Billy Thomas
Drums: Roy Cook
Bass: Steve Lake
Piano: David Creech
Background Vocals: Pam Temple
Lead Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Banjo: Red Creech

From the back cover: Red was very persistent over the years in learning to play the guitar. This persistence paid off when John Lair of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance heard him and offered him a job on the barn dance. He was to be a member of the staff as a back up guitarist. Liking his playing, Mr. Lair discovered Red could sing, then he was given a featured spot as a vocalist.

The barn dance job also led to a job on the well known Renfro Valley Sunday Morning Gatherin, a program heard through out most of the U.S. and Canada. Said to be the second oldest continuing radio program in the U.S. As well as playing guitar on this program, Red was also asked to sing in the Home Folks Quartet, a gospel group formed by John Lair for the sunday morning program.

Fultz Recording Studio, Louisville, Kentucky and Doc's Place, Nashville, Tennessee.

From the back cover: Oh! You wanted to know what reason we had for putting the prehistoric caveman on the cover of our album. The reason is… mmm… now that I think about it, there is no reason. Pure Gold - Mel Gaynor

It's Not Unusual
Delila
Pure Gold
Presenting The Golden Voice Of Mel Gaynor
1978

From the back cover: Mel has, what is termed as a "clean" voice. Meaning, that he does not have to resort to "gimmicks" to make his audience appreciative. All too often vocalists hide their weak finish behind the volume of the orchestra.

The "skip" heard in the sample, It's Not Unusual is rather part of the recording session that wasn't edited out. This, I assume unintended effect, is heard on several tracks.

Nighttime - Dolly Holiday

The Ever-Lovin' Memphis Sound
Nighttime
Dolly Holiday
Holiday Inn Records
HIA-9521

From the back cover: As Dolly Holiday on Holiday Inns Nighttime broadcasts, she is heard more hours by more millions than any person in radio – from midnight to 5 a.m. nightly on 60 stations especially chosen to reach audiences across the land and beyond all our borders. Dolly Holiday talks to more people each week than any woman in history has ever reached.

And now, for the first time, here are the songs of Dolly Holiday, introducing to you the singing voice of the Nighttime lady who has introduced so many other fine singers on so many nights.

Dolly Holiday is, of course, a professional name. Her real name is Dotty Abbott, a veteran broadcasting, an innovator and executive. Dotty is a native of Memphis, home city where the Holiday Inns system was born. She went to Ole Miss and Memphis State, was active from her teens in both board casting and the theater, appearing both in Little Theater and in professional productions, musical and dramatic.

Her speaking voice, her singing voice are the results of years of study and professionalism. In 1951, she became Memphis' first girl disk jockey. Her association with Kemmons Wilson, board chairman of Holiday Inns, goes back to 1955. Wilson and Sam Phillips, who founded Sun Records and was first to record people like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, founded the nation's first all-girl radian station. WHER, and they asked her to be its manager. Strangely, in the era when Phillips was launching what became the rock 'n' roll era, they decided this station would provide music of a sort which most stations had stopped playing – the kind of music which had been loved in the '30s and '40s. Dotty later worked for stations in St. Louis, Phoenix, Honolulu and Kansas City, returned to WHER in 1960 and was manager at the same time of WLIZ in Palm Beach, commuting between the two.

When Wilson decided to begin a distinctive radio program for Holiday Inns, he turned naturally to Dotty. Both he and Dotty knew the music and mood they wanted, songs that spoke to the hearer, with melodies. As Dotty says: "He told me he wanted music that will make a man fell like telling his wife or girl friend how much he loves her."

From her own studio built for her in Holiday City, Dotty chooses and programs every record she plays. It was a success from the beginning.
