Carmen D'Oro - I Aim To Please

Something
Carmen D'Oro & Los Dorados
I Aim To Please (Deseo Complacer)
Qui Records

From the back cover: Carmen credits her first success to the Rhumba King himself, Xavier Cugat, who picked her from 150 girls. Carmen worked and learned show business with Cugat, and leaving the band she was starred in one of the many shows produced by Monte Proser. It was Monte who changed her name to CARNEN D'ORO (gold Carmen).

In recent years CARMEN has played such lounges as The Sands, The Stardust and The Sahara in Las Vegas, as well as Harvey's and Cal Neva at Lake Tahoe and many times back in all the major hotels in Puerto Rico.

Even as this album is being pressed, CARMEN and her group are entertaining our troops in Viet Nam for the fourth time.

  1. I was the Escort Officer for her show in Vietnam in 1969; good show; really nice lady.

  2. I was the Escort Officer for her USO show in Vietnam in 1969. The Dorados were missing their drummer for that tour so a GI substituted; it was all very well received; Carmen was a good performer and a nice lady.

    2. Hi, I’m Christina. My dad, Eddie Aparicio, was Carmen’s drummer for years. The USO tours were great. They toured Japan & the Philippines, circa early 1970s. Carmen’s show was always super entertaining. She had a great following.
Yes, Nacho was her singer & bassist in Los Dorados. He sang back-ups and solo beautifully. Fond memories.
In 1973, my dad founded The C.A.N.E. Company and I was the girl singer. Nacho, my dad and Al Leon made up the trio. Nacho sang solo and harmony too.
Sadly my dad Eddie, passed in 1983. He was only 56.
