From the back cover: The two pianos of then Marlowes have been heard by millions of music lovers since a pair of prodigious eleven year olds made their debut on a coast to coast telecast with Milton Berle. Natives of Philadelphia and proteges of the famed duo-piano teams of Luboshutz and Nemenoff, Jeffry and Ronald made their orchestral debut, also at the age of eleven, with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Scores of television appearances and six seasons of sold-out, cross-country recital tours have followed, as well as engagements with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and many other symphony orchestras.

  1. What a great sound! I was expecting just 2 pianos, but the reality was so much better.

  2. Wait, was that a track from a Franck Pourcel album instead?

  3. My mom took me to see them when I was in 6th grade… for me it was a life changing event. I even got too buy the album… sadly , my three older brothers used it as a dart board and I never got to listen to the album. What a gem for me to find! THANK YOU!!!!!

    1. What's your name? This is Jeff Marlowe's daughter. Where did you see them play?

    2. Hi Jen! wow... thanks for reaching out. My name is Matthew Shonk. I was born in Lancaster, OH but now (thankfully) live in St. Paul, MN. I experienced your father and uncle at the Lancaster High School.

Your dad and uncle touched me so deeply. Growing up in a family of 9 kids, me playing that piano was often treated as just 'noise.' My mother was my only support and your father and uncle were a new found support, my way of knowing that playing the piano could be fun, exciting, and celebrated. I listened and watched with awe as their fingers RAN up and down the keyboards, unafraid to play FORTE with passion and no one telling them, "it's too loud!"

I remember that night like it was yesterday. After the intermission I remember they came back on stage and through the applause I leaned over to my mother and whispered, "they switched sides." When the applause died down, just before turning to take their bench, one of the turned to us and said, "Oh, by the way, in case you have not noticed, we changed sides." Everyone laughed but I had been watching so closely that I knew!

What a WONDERFUL memory. I return to this blog to listen to the album at least 4 or 5 times a week!

    3. This is Jeff’s other daughter, Melissa. I love that you noticed they had switched sides. Their announcing that at a concert is one of my many memories of seeing them perform. I’m touched that my Dad was such an inspiration to you.

  4. Jen - last night - I just stumbled on the clip of your Dad and uncle on I’ve Got a Secret on YouTube from 1966. They were amazing. I got curious about them and discovered that your Dad just passed away in late July. I am so sorry for your loss.
