Griffith, Smith & Co.

Griffith, Smith, & Co.
Rod Griffith and Adrianne Smith
Classic Sound & Recording, Incorporated
Vandor Classic Records CSR-52579

From the back cover: This album, produced by Larry Moore in association with Rod Griffith and Walt Anderson, contains only a few of the selections in the band's club tastes, such as Adrianne Smith's over powering rendition of "New York! New York!", "Caberet", and "Over The Rainbow". Included in this request collection, especially for Doug Redd, is Rod Griffith's supreme interpretation of "McArthur Park" doing both the vocal and trumpet solo.

Rod Griffith is the 'Old Pro' of the group, dating back to the days when he was with the United States Air Force Band, and he has had his own group ever since! A fine comic, he is a first rate singer and plays the Trumpet, Trombone, and Fluger Horne.

Lovely Adrianne Smith has been with the group for six years, and she never fails to receive rave reviews where ever the group performs, and that includes some of the most exclusive rooms in the nation; The Sheraton Sand Key, Innisbrook Country Club, and the Host Inns, for a few. She is a sure stylist ala Garland, Minelli, Streisand, and Merman, yet her own distinctive voice is not lost in the performance, and she plays Sax and Flute!

Steve Williams, who plays the keyboards, also did the arrangements. Dick Diamond who plays Clarinet and Sax, was joined by Rod Griffith, Walt Anderson who plays guitar and bass, and Adrianne Smith to do the vocal back ground. Tom Theobald is the expert on the drums, and that vital performance link of every selection.

Anyway you enjoy this group, whether live on a club date, or from this album, you'll have to agree: Entertainment is the Theme of Griffith, Smith & Company.

  1. I used to go see Rod, Adreanne and the band at the Sheraton Sand Key hotel in Clearwater Beach, Florida way back in the late 70's and early 80's. A fun and class act. Thanks for sharing this! Bobby Klaiss
