Jerry Conrad's Rhythm And Brass
Alive At Friar Tuck's
Jewel Records - Cincinnati, OH
LPS 133
I found one brief mention of Friar Tuck's online. Apparently it was a nightclub located somewhere in Northern Kentucky.
Welcome to The Motel Lounge! What's your poison? This album blog features a variety of unusual vinyl finds from the days when the only way to reach an audience was for the artist to custom press their own LPs that could be sold in the lounge settings, private parties or weddings at which they performed. I'm here to have fun and hope you will share in my process of discovery!
Great local lounge!Love the percussion touches!
ReplyDeleteFriar Tuck's was located near the present location of Northgate Mall at the north corner of Colerain Ave. and Yellowstone Dr. in Groesbeck, OH.

ReplyDeleteDid you play with them when they played on the Lynn Mink show on Ch 9 in the early 70s?
Yes, that was me on the Gibson. Jerry Conrad was unable to play that show because he was the band leader on Bob Brawn show on WLW. I played with that band for 3 years. I enjoyed it much.
DeleteI also played with Frank Brown band on the Dennis Wholey show at the same time. I miss Cincy music seen. Before Frank B. and Jerry C. I played with the Casinos '64-66.
Deleterest in power jerry!

I remember the band playing at the Lynn Mink show at WCPO TV. In the early 70s. My dad was a security guard there and I would get to go to all of the recordings of the show. Great memories from back then!
ReplyDeleteI remember the great sound of the band very well as well as Lynn. He was a great singer.
I've been trying to remember this record for years. My mom had a copy that my Uncle Sonny gave her and when i was like 3 or 4 years old I played it constantly.
