Welcome to The Motel Lounge! What's your poison? This album blog features a variety of unusual vinyl finds from the days when the only way to reach an audience was for the artist to custom press their own LPs that could be sold in the lounge settings, private parties or weddings at which they performed. I'm here to have fun and hope you will share in my process of discovery!

George And Joni Wilcox Show
Taste Of Honey
Holiday For Strings
The Swinging Prince And His Princess
Live Show Performance
Century Records
1969
The copy on the back cover goes into detail to prove George Wilcox's (Prince George Montague Antanasius Keeaumoku Wilcox) link to Keoua, Father of Kamelhameha the Great. I did a search and found a wiki page for who must be George Wilcox, but Antahasius is spelled Athanasius.

Something Special (Just For You) - Freddie King
Crying
Freddie King
CMC Records
From the back cover: You will find as you listen to the songs contained in the album, eleven years of hard work, dedication and love, sung from the heart of Freddie King. For it is a long way from Hamilton, Ohio to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, not only in miles, but, the many songs and long nights in between. Freddie was born in Hamilton, Ohio and moved to Florida eighteen years ago, and it was at age 16 that he seriously started singing.

Michael O'Dea Sings His Favourite Songs
The Impossible Dream
Jury's JR LP 5
From the back cover: Most singers by nature are temperamental and invariably not only give ulcers to themselves but also to their Producers. I am happy to say that this is no way typical of Michael. He has a warm delightful personality and his greatest desire is to entertain and make people happy.

Zieli Band With Hammond Organ
The Boogaloo Dance
Torna Statte Vicino A Me Chella'lla
DRC-43069
This post is sort of a messed. I found two other private press albums the Zieli Band made online. Apparently someone owned more than one Zieli LP and mistakenly switched records when they returned the disc to the jacket. I would not blog this record because of the jacket issue, but the tracks are so much fun... what the heck. The cover that should go with this album features a photo of the group, five men standing in matching jackets and a woman sitting at The Hammond. I believe the group must be Italian, probably doing cruise ship gigs.
Anywhoo... the recording is a quirky 60s lounge record (due to The Hammond vibe and plodding drum).
